More Political Cartoon Ponderings

Political cartoons are a fun way to get a new perspective on issues and current events.  Artists creatively use metaphors of language to make readers have to think beyond the literal.  It is a great visual activity to promote your thinking. Study the political cartoon.  How is the author using this cartoon of a teenager to send a message?  Be sure to explain  your thinking.  Can you think of another way the author could creatively display a similar message?

  1. I think the author is trying to say that there should be no corporate greed. They might also want to say that you should not be greedy at all.

  3. I think what the author is saying is that a lot of people protest about thing but they are still siding with what there protesting against. For example this guy is protesting against greed but he is dressing in things that represent greed.

    1. Good point. I connect it to politicians who talk in circles. One day they are against something, and then that something puts a few dollars in their pocket; now they are for it.

  4. I set my 'get rid of corprate greed' sign as I walked into a coke-a-cola gift shop (5 minutes later) I put my new coke-a-cola shirt on and walked out of the shop, picked up my sign and went back to protesting about corprate greed.

  5. I don't think corporate greed is really a problem because if your complaining about corporate greed, then just dont were it. and its there choice if the people who buy corporate greed products want to sponcer the company.

    1. I think the protest goes beyond choice. I agree with you. Everyone should get to choose, but one way consumers can make a difference is not buy something from someone who they think is wrong. Ex: Nike shoes made by child labor in Asia.
